What is Regenon?

Regenon is one of the trade names of Diethylpropion (another trade names:Tenuate, Tenuate Dospan, Tenuate Retard, Neobes, Dietec, Liposlim).

Regenon is a weight loss medication which acts as an appetite suppressant taken orally.

This drug was designed specifically for treatment of obesity caused the excess intake of calories (known as exogenous obesity) and it is an ideal drug for people who need to lose weight to decease obesity-associated diseases.

It is generally prescribed for short duration use of 8-12 weeks.

The success and level of the weight loss will depend on the amount of caloric restriction and the judicious use of exercise. Well planned weight loss schedule in judicious combination of diet pill, food habit and exercise schedule always produces desired results.

Who should take Regenon?

Regenon is prescribed for patients with body mass index (BMI) 30 kg/m2 or more, who have not responded in a satisfactory way to a weight loss program.

The treatment should be complete and include dietary, medical and psychotherapeutic methods.

How does Regenon work?

Regenon is classified as an anorectic or anorexigenic drug. These terms refer to a drug's ability to suppress the appetite. It does this by affecting the central nervous system, including the nerves and the brain, to interrupt the signaling process of different hormones and chemical compounds.

How and when should I take Regenon?

  • Regenon comes as a regular and extended-release (long-acting) tablet.
  • Regenon usually is taken three times a day, 1 hour before meals (regular tablets), or once a day in midmorning (extended-release tablets).
  • Take each dose with a full glass of water.
  • Take Regenon on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals. An evening dose may be taken to overcome nighttime hunger.
  • Your final daily dose should be taken four to six hours before bedtime.
  • If you have missed a dose of Regenon, take your dose immediately. However, if it is later than 4 pm, skip your missed dose. Take the next dose as part of your regular dosing schedule. Two doses of Regenon should not be taken at once.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose or take Regenon longer than your prescription dictates without the approval of your physician; serious side effects may results.
  • Do not crush, chew, or cut extended-release tablets; swallow them whole.

Regenon Side Effects

Although side effects from Regenon are not common, they can occur (note: side effects may disappear during treatment). Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

  • dry mouth
  • unpleasant taste
  • restlessness
  • anxiety
  • dizziness
  • depression
  • tremors
  • upset stomach
  • vomiting
  • increased urination

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

  • fast or irregular heartbeat
  • heart palpitations
  • blurred vision
  • skin rash
  • itching
  • difficulty breathing
  • chest pain
  • fainting
  • swelling of the ankles or feet
  • fever
  • sore throat
  • chills
  • painful urination

Regenon Precautions

You should not use Regenon if you are currently using: guanethidine, guanadrel, furazolidone, or MAOI inhibitors.

Regenon is not recommended for individuals who have a history of hyperthyroidism, atherosclerosis, heart disease, high blood pressure, brain or spinal cord disorders, or glaucoma.

Do not operate a motor vehicle or machinery, or participate in dangerous activities until you have gauged your reactions to Regenon.

Prior to any medical or dental procedures, let your physician or dentist know that you are taking Regenon.

Regenon is excreted in breast milk. Contact your physician or pharmacist to discuss potential risks of Regenon to your baby if you are breast-feeding while using Regenon.

Regenon Storage

Store Regenon in a tightly-closed container at room temperature, away from heat and light.
